Pilotage Moto

Concerns a biplane that took off from Paris (I think in the 1930’s) on an air race to New York, but crash landed in a lake in Canada. There a young girl decades later, on holiday with her Grandma stumbles across a time warped crash scene that keeps re-inacting that fateful day, but with help from a friend, manage to get it flying in its tattered state, which developes into his former glorious self and disappears in its time period.

I watched this movie when i was a child and loved it. but i cant seem to remember the name… I remember that it started out with these two young hot shot pilots for the airforce. They tested all the best aircraft at the time. Even crashed a few. Then one of the men died i believe, and the other main character went on to fly the Bell x-1. First man to go mach 1… anyone recognize this? its driving me crazy
